A Palrak (pronunciation: /ɑ pɑlɾɑk/) is the capital city of Korihim, located in the southeast corner of the country, not too far from Temay. It is located on the Yellow Jogun river, a main tributary of the actual Jogun river, which starts at Xiamangmu and enters the ocean by the Achiyitqan border. It also hosts 75% of Korihim's urban population, which is also 12% of Korihim's entire population of about 2,900,000 people. Unfortunately, due to the amount of factories, automobiles, and other carbon-dioxide producing mechanisms, A Palrak suffers from mild-to-heavy pollution, however a bill is to be passed in 2020 to reduce carbon emissions and lower the amount of pollutants in the air.

Etymology

A Palrak derives from a very heavily sound-changed Proto-Hedretic "at pálörwäg," which roughly means "father's food camp," as the place had historically been a popular rest stop and food shop for travelling nomads. Eventually some of them would settle in there, or go out to make their own "food camp," hence the "father" part of the name, being a father of pálörwägs.

History

Being founded in 1200 BCE, A Palrak had been made based on the principle of being a rest stop for nomads for them to get food, and other essential supplies, while under the Paktun clan's rule, one of many clans that would be in modern-day Korihim and rule the city. But it wasn't until 879 PCE that the Akyago clan would take over and make it become its capital city. After being taken over by first the Rishonga clan, then the Hilituis, and many other clans, the Juhashka-based Sunrise Horde swept over in the 1200s CE, and unsurprisingly, A Palrak fell to them. It would stay occupied for about 150 years as a city to trade in and as a rest stop for the Sunrise warriors, not really suffering that much violence. After the Sunrise Horde collapsed, A Palrak came under the rule of the newly-established Kingdom of Korihim, and it would stay that way to present day. At one point its name had been changed to En Ajan, but after the king who named it that died, it got back its original name.

Demographics

A Palrak, given its etymology, is known as a rest stop for anybody, really, so naturally, one would expect diversity in this city. And there is. 69% of A Palrak's population is made of ethnic Kalman people, one third of them are mixed with other demographics, 16% of the population is made of ethnic Galycans and Revirhit, 9% come from the northern Korihimi people, some of which even have roots in the Koize, and the remaining 6% are Calutes, Temayans, and other people groups beyond.
