Administrative divisions, also referred to as gań, were the various recognized governing entities that together formed the Alotol Confederation.

Crowns

The crowns of the Alotol Confederation were states tied directly to a kingdom. They are similar in nature to the Alotol republics except they were usually governed by a prince or a common council. Crowns existed in the Confederation until the Seizure of 1709, in which many of these administrative divisions were incorporated into their kingdoms.

  • Asota - Perhaps the most well known of all the Crowns, Asota was a state under Setole from x until the collapse of the Alotol Confederation.
  • Heyan -
  • Pomeda -

Kingdoms

The kingdoms that made up the Alotol Confederation were in the Recam kamoil, until the addition of Masina. These different kingdoms were often at odds but banded together against the many threats facing them in the West and South. Over time, the royal families merged together, leaving only a handful of royal dynasties in the Alotol Confederation. In 1658, the members of the House of Status agreed that a member from the Court of Batan would traditionally lead the Confederation, but the kings would retain power in their individual kingdoms. The member from the Court of Batan was typically referred to as the Confederal Lord while in the House of Status, later becoming just Lord, and finally, in the 19th century, Emperor.

  • North Masina
  • South Masina
  • Setole
  • Vaina

Republics

The republics of the Alotol Confederation were a holdover from the pre-imperial era. Kings would regularly loan land to military leaders that they trusted and allow them to form a buffer state around the kingdom. These republics were very strict and run almost entirely by the military. Only members of the army could vote and create laws in these new states, but if the king felt that one of their republics was becoming too powerful and threatened to depose the king, the king could, in most cases, take back the land and dissolve the republic.

  • Arenese Federation - Comprising most of modern day Arain and the coast of Lake Soltenna, the Arenese Federation was one of the earliest Alotol republics. It was subordinate to the Kingdom of Setole, and existed at the pleasure of the monarchy.
  • Eul Republic -
  • Kar Republic - The first Alotol Republic. It was originally comprised of parts of the modern Kar Republic and Elań, however Elań became an independent gań following the creation of the Sovereign Kingdom of Liosol.
