Agotasa (Ekuostian pronunciation: /ɑɦʌt̪ɑs̪ɑ/) is the seventh largest city in Barradiwa, located within the Barradiwan state-region of Ekuostia. It is the second largest Barradiwan city located on the Ekuos, behind the Barradiwan capital Sonegío. The city is known for its history as a major trade hub on the Ekuos, a reputation it gained when parts of it were bought out by Algaz merchants to build trade posts on; the merchants chose Agotasa instead of Sonegío because the latter was more politically volatile and restrictive in terms of merchant property deals. Agotasa was historically one of the largest Algazi trading centers outside of the Algazi League itself.

Etymology

The city's name is a corruption of "Algazi land" (Algostolsá) in the local dialect of Ekuostian. The village that sat upon where the city stands today went by numerous different names over the centuries, as often Ekuostian nobles would purchase the village's land for a place to host large scale social gatherings.
