Czisilia (/t͡ʃɪˈsɪlɪjə/; Czisilian: čisil, tr. Çisil [ˈt͡ɕɪ.sɪl]), officially the Democratic Pashaist Republic of Czisilia (Czisilian: ipcokhisi qoçajæk ippiw čisilli, tr. Ipcokhisi Hoçayĕk Ippiw Çisilli [ˈɪp.t͡so.cʰɪ.sɪ ˈxo.t͡ɕa.jɛk̚ ˈɪp̚.pɪu̯ ˈt͡ɕɪ.sɪl.lɪ]), is a sovereign state constituting the entirety of the Czisil Peninsula. Located in Milevia, a subregion of Parshita in eastern Miraria, its only land border is with Kaisen to the north, but it also shares maritime borders with Azey to the west and Farmosh to the east.

Etymology

The name Czisilia comes from the Proto-South Milevic name *t͡ɬis-ahhil, meaning "land of travelers". This name was originally used to refer to the general Southern Milevic area, with the Old High Czisilian name being popularised as the name for the clans of the Czisilian peninsula during the era of the Milevic Empire.

History

Pre-Terminian Era (1300s-1600s)

Map of the distribution of South Milevic clans across the Czisil peninsula and modern-day Farmosh.

As were the other states of the Milevic Empire, Czisilia was made up of loosely connected clans spread across the southern Czisil peninsula and modern day Farmosh. The largest and most powerful of these clans were located in Eresa and Aśkal.

Terminian colonialism (1600s-1925)

The arrival of the Terminians caused an important diaspora which put the Czisilians and Farmoshis in their respective modern places. Terminia completely abolished the clan system in favour of its own Western-style administration. The Terminian conquest also brought a whole new architectural style to the region, very distinct from traditional Milevic architecture.

Helsonian Era (1925-1961)

After the foundation of the Helsonian Union, Kúúlism was put into place as the state ideology and Czisilia was assimilated into the satellite state of Kaisen-Czisilia in 1937, until the fabled "Hosha's Insurrection" in 1940. These revolts split the country for 11 years up until the armistice signed in 1952. This marked Czisilia's secession from the Terminians (the second state to do so, after Farmosh in 1876), which would only be officially recognised by Helsonia in 1971.

Post-Helsonian Era (1940-Present)

After seceding from Helsonia, Czisilia went on to become a pashaist theocracy, first ruled by Aoler Ipzí, but the most marking ruler was Dómej Vazídh who ruled the country for a record 57 years. He brought many reforms to the country, including an effort to open the country to the world in recent years. However, he tragically died in 2018 in the collapse of a juvid's minaret. Vazídh's death left the people of Czisilia confused and heartbroken, as propaganda had painted him as a father figure for the country throughout his rule.
