Lutya, officially the Republic of Lutya, is a tropical country located in far southern Akulanen.
The territory of Lutya was first settled by Proto-Uemaua and Ghoni speakers circa 100 CE. The medieval Lutya state (known as the Empire of Lutya, despite never having owned any colonial possessions) encompassed the coast of present-day Lutya, and lasted for quite a while, establishing trade relations with Bavkirak, Terminia, and the Letsatian Empire starting in the 13th century CE. The area was also occasionally targeted by Dhweran slave raiders from about the 15th to 17th centuries CE. Lutya became relatively prosperous economically, and Lutyan cultural influence in turn spread fairly well around the Taanttu sea region.
Circa 1710, Lutya enters a new administration that proves to be highly nativist and proceeds to shut off the vast majority of trade with the outside world. Lutya's trading partners would only get one small port each, and other than that all spread of foreign influence within Lutya was forbidden. This lasted for nearly a century, until c. 1800 Lutya reopened its ports.
It was shortly after this that Terminian and, to an extent, Magalese influence started to slowly enter the newly reopened Empire of Lutya. A Kuulist revolution eventually took place in 1958, led by revolutionary 26 Potter's Wheel and her Lutyan People's Party, and the People's Revolutionary Republic of Lutya was declared. This lasted until 1984, at which time the PRRL collapsed and the Republic of Lutya was proclaimed. This is the present political structure of Lutya and is considered the "modern era" of the country.
Etymology
The name Lutya derives from Ghoni rú "hot" and dá "place", hence "hot place."
