Ompiháaga (Tsaavalu /om.pi.'hâ:.ga/) or Onpihasga (Standard Achiyitqan /on.pi'haz.ga/) sometimes also called Ompáig is the current capital and third-largest city of Achiyitqana with a population of 120 thousand, and the largest outside of the state of Tsaabkulbaa. Its present tenure as capital began in 2012 with the election of current Achiyitqan president Seyanilé'on Nau'Aciyitqána, and it has served as capital ?? other times throughout Achiyitqan history. History
Like most other Achiyitqan cities, Ompiháaga originated as a seasonal site for the nomadic pre-agricultural Achiyitqan and Vodholk peoples, with occasional usage indicated as early as 2100 BCE and semi-permanent (seasonal) settlement by 300 BCE. Its sheltered nature lead to it becoming a popular winter settlement spot and permanent trade hub by 716 BCE.
Geography and climate
Onpihasga is located on a large inlet on the east coast of northern Psongayé, on the west bank of the Achiyitqan sea. It is situated in a valley in a small hill system, protecting it from the worst of the arctic winds.
Its climate is subarctic verging on tundra. Winters are long, cold and wet, while summers are short, mild, and often dry. The hills around the city are enough to protect it from the most bitter winter winds, but do not create any rain shadow effect.
Vegetation primarily consists of hardy coniferous trees and seasonal grasses, sedges, and shrubs.
