Otofu (pronunciation: /ɔtɔɸʊ/) is a city district in the oblast of Toşe in Yakormonyo. It served as the capital of the nation since 1565, replacing the old capital, Ony.

Etymology

The word Otofu came from 'Oto Upu'; Monyo 'oto' (water, colloquial) and 'upu' (of, archaic), together 'of the water'. Eventually, it was shortened and became 'Otofu'.

Otofu's main landmark is the Repoşota Castle, which is in the middle of Otofu's two main lakes, Lakes Ryppi and Usotu, which has been the seat of the Monyo government until 1898. It was then moved to the Kanyoto Castle, which is the current seat of the government.
