A rough approximation of the region typically considered as the Tambuk Plains within the borders of Hodek and neighboring Koize

The Tambuk Plains (Hodeki: Yértmik Kes, Yértmik Kes, [jeːrtmiqː‿eʃ]) locally, or in English the Lower Yertmik, is a region of within Koize and Hodek having characteristics such as its steppe-like features. The region is not classified as belonging to the Tundra classification as tree growth is not inhibited within the region entirely, nor is it a cold desert such as the TBD in the Southeast of Hodek. The Tambuk Plains are also a misnomer as the Tambuk plains are more suitably described as a plateau of the Yertmik mountains to its south. Most notable of the region is its sandy loam soil which makes most attempts to utilize the region for agricultural purposes in the already limited winter nearly impossible aside from the use of greenhouses. The area holds a place within Degic culture as it is referred to being the home of Harcdag, a figure of Degic folklore believed to be responsible for storms. The plains were involved with the 1983 Pearl Company scandal whereupon a portion of the region was sold at a price considered far lower than was reasonable for the company's copper mining practices.

History

The earliest known habitation of anatomically modern humans in the region is dated to being between 25,000 and 42,000 years ago with the first known bronze cultures as well as permanent settlements appearing as recent as 1,500 years ago. Many of the permanent settlements in the region were abandoned with the rise of the Sunrise Horde, as trade within the region saw a significant decline likely as a result of pre-existing routes no longer existing, as well as conflict brought about by the Mahavic expansion. The region saw involvement during the Hodeki-Koizan War, with some artifacts of the conflict still remaining in some areas due to the sparse inhabitance of the region.

Since 2007, areas not under civil jurisdiction or owned by the Pearl Company were grouped together as a National Wildlife reserve to preserve the region's ecology during Físelceg Mas' government. These measures, however, have proven to be ineffective at stopping illegal logging.

Ecology

The Tambuk Plains are home to many species of mammal and over 50 species of bird.
