Ukutunajas is a country in Nagu. It is run by a monarchy and the official language of the country is Anganatasaka. It was originally a province of the Canamic Empire and it became its own country in 1262.
Breaking Apart from the Canana Empire
Prior to 1262, Ukutunajas was a province of the Canamic Empire. Unhappy with the lack of financial support to the province, the ethnic tensions between the mostly Canamic people of the empire and the mostly Asuranesian people of Ukutunajas, and the racial tensions between the humans of the empire and the astalavis that made up a large portion of the province, Ukutans started to despise the rest of the empire. When the Emperor and his court went missing in 1262, Ukutunajas officials refused to renew the feudal contract binding the province to the Empire. Instead, xxx, at the time a rich landowner, gathered the people of Ukutunajas and united them under the label of country rather than province. He then declared himself king.
In 1962, Astalavi people were legally recognized as sentient persons. Previously, they had legally been considered subhuman, and were able to be enslaved. However, due to lobbying by astalavis for legal personhood and recognition of their contributions to the independence of Ukutunajas from the Canamic Empire, the current king, xxxx, agreed to give them the same rights as the humans of Ukutunajas.
Ukutunajas is an absolute hereditary monarchy. Currently, it is ruled by King xx, with Prince xx first in line to inherit the throne.
Ukutunajas attempts to keep neutral or positive relationships with the majority of countries, aside from Cananganam. The Ukutans strongly dislike Cananganam.
Exports and Imports
In xxxx BCE Ukutunajas was primarily populated by Asuranesian peoples. Since then, it has been populated by majority Asuranesian and Canamic peoples. Notable minority ethnic groups include Dagyelic and Dihive peoples. Alongside humans, there is also a population of astralavi (1 209 453 as of 2021) living in Ukutunajas.
The majority of settlements in Ukutunajas are small towns, spread out from each other. There are two major cities: the capital, xxx, is on the western coast of Ukutunajas and houses the royal family, while the other major city, xxx, is near the Cananganam border and is home to a large amount of craftsmakers.
The only official language in Ukutunajas is Angantasaka, a language derived from Classic Canamic. It was originally a dialect of Classic Canamic spoken in Ukutunajas that has only solidifed itself as a separate language as time went on.
Ukutunajas food is notable for its use of salt water when boiling food. This is particularly practiced near the coast, where salt water is easily accessed. Other staples of Ukutunajas food includes heavy amounts of fried food, and ground seeds and flowers used as seasoning.
Birds are commonly used as symbols of Ukutunajas. They also symbolize freedom, revolution, and Ukutunajas nationalism. During the fighting between Ukutunajas and the Canamic Empire, birds were used as a symbol of the rebellion. The Ukutunajas flag has a rendition of a bird.
