Zindarr (IPA: /zɪn.ˈdɑr/, Zindari: Zindař [zɨnːɐr̝]), is a region in southeast Miraria. It was then known as Heiyoon, when it was settled by Mahavic tribes (see Etymology). Zindař was divided into two duchies and several smaller principalities for most of its history. It was conquered by Juhashka? in the 1200s, and passed into the possession of another neighboring state as the Duchy of Zind in 1407. After the collapse of said state's monarchy in 1873 and the subsequent revolutions, Zindař has been in a state of flux, periodically passing under control of neighboring states - most notably a neighboring state in the Havel War. Since 1977, most of Zindař has been self-governing; however, there is an ongoing conflict in Zindař, involving monarchist forces, the Zindař Patriotic Front, North Zindař, and the indigenous population. Jtano, the portion of Zindař west of the Skalsoy River, is also occupied by Temay. The crisis has attracted varying degrees of international and humanitarian concern since its outbreak, and the global community has yet to come to a consensus on the conflict in favor of any one side or another.
Etymology
The name Zindař comes from Heiyoon, believed to be a Mahavic adaptation of a Na-Trinh name, perhaps xejn /xɛj.n/ "forest", though some Juhashkan linguists have more recently proposed a connection with Proto-Juhashkan *ha' tan "of the plains".
