Atameng (Amakane: Atameng [atamɛŋ]), officially the High Chiefdom of Atameng, is is an island nation in Atsiq in the Jaxukuk Sea comprising three islands - Itepu, Etukong, and Kupara. The capital is Omaki. Atameng's closest neighbors are Dachashk and Shalorja to the north, Astalva to the east, and Jilu Lyladna to the west. Atameng was originally settled by the early Asuranesians several thousand years ago, and quickly grew into a prospering island archipelago.

Atameng is a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy with nine administrative regions. The country is a member of the International Congress, as well as the Alliance of Island Nations. The country's official language is Amakane, with Osveraali, Lyladnese, and Bigu being recognized as regional languages.

Etymology

The name for the islands likely derives from either the Amakane word for "fertile land", ateneng, or from atumen ("rabbit's droppings"), referring to the islands' shapes.

History

The area now called Atameng has been inhabited by Asuranesians since sometime between 500 BCE and 1500 CE. The area was not very isolated; invaders from the Osveraalian Empire later introduced Osveraalian cultural aspects. Intermarriage tended to blur cultural differences and resulted in a significant degree of cultural homogenization.
