Baridut (Ekuostian: baridut /bɑryd̪ud̪/) or Buorráidjút is the fifth largest city in Barradiwa and the capital of the northern Barradiwan region of Baridia. It is one of the oldest consistently-inhabited cities in the world, having been colonized around 4,500 years ago by what most historians believe were Enkean explorers led astray from their flagship due to natural occurrences such as ocean currents or storms. It quickly grew from a small makeshift village to a sizable town, and served as the capital of the Barid Empire in all of its incarnations; the Barid people and their language is believed to be the origin of Barradiwa's name.
