The Battle on the Plateau was a major battle that took place during the Sunrise Horde era in 1252. The battle is widely agreed to have been the high water point of the Mahavic Invasion which caused the loss of some 10% of the population of Vaniua and a near collapse of the entire political and cultural climate that preceded the invasion.
Background
Prelude
Before the first day of fighting, mistakes made by a 250-man Vaniuan scouting expedition had apparently led to them believing the Mahavic army's bulk was the Vaniuan army as TBD¹'s personal flag was similar to that of the Vaniuan Army's as a result of coincidence.
The Mahavi had apparently killed in the quick fighting some 25 men though some were assumed to have been simply left behind when their horses were cut down from beneath them when they fled Westward to regroup and find the Vaniuan contingent. They would not regroup until Day 3 of the fighting but with reduced numbers due to attrition.
The missing status of the scouting expedition gave an early warning of the Mahavic army ahead, leaving the Vaniuans with the option to push forward or to choose more favorable terrain at the cost of their own supplies.
