The dissolution of the Alotol Confederation occurred de facto on 19 February 1803, when X declared its independence. Other states followed X's example and the Confederation officially ended when Emperor Ena released states from their mutual obligations to the Kingdom of Setole.

History

The 1778 Incident

During the Third Western War, Prince Methas, leading the 8th Cavalry, lost the Battle of X to the Kingdom of Malas. A third of the cavalry, mostly Hetan soldiers, was killed while in prison while the remaining members were used as bargaining chips to end the war. Emperor Ena signed a treaty with X shortly after, ending the war and bringing the soldiers back to Lanothi. Upon their arrival, Emperor Ena stripped Prince Methas of the title of Heir Apparent of the Court of Batan, instead choosing to bestow it upon his other son, Prince Agore the II. Prince Methas, however, continued to rule over Masina.

The Fourth Western War

The Alotol Confederation declared war on the Kingdom of Malas in 1889 in order to "finally settle the border" between the two states. Following the war, Emeperor Ena gifted "his most favored son", who previously only maintained the Princely State of Luma, the Malas territory.

The 1794 Incident

During a meeting with the Premier of the Kar Republic, Prince Agore the II confessed that when he became emperor he planned on uniting his Princely States with Setole. The Alotol Republics declared that if that were to occur, they would leave the Alotol Confederation since they saw Prince Agore the II as "a threat to [their] democratic powers."

Founding of Liosol

The sudden death of Emperor Ena resulted in his son, Prince Agore the II, ascending to the throne. During his coronation, Agore the II declared the Realm of Luma and Sedail would now unite under one crown. The Averan states, which opposed the crowning of Prince Agore the II over Prince Methas, declared independence from the Alotol Confederation. The Royal Diet declared this action illegal and voted to take up arms against the rogue state. They also, under the newly crowned Emperor Agore's guidance, charged Prince Methas with treason. Methas fled to Asota which, at that time, was under the leadership of his sister, Princess Lana.

The Kingdom of Hedan (Heyan), told Emperor Agore that it would not join in the war against a fellow member state, especially after the last war it fought on the Confederation's behalf. Emperor Agore accused King Sota of abandoning Setole, its longtime friend, and immediately removed its status as a kingdom. Emperor Agore reduced Hedan to a territory and expelled Sota from the imperial diet. The Premiers of the Alotol Republics denounced Emperor Agore's actions and demanded his immediate abdication following this act.

War of the Central States

In February of 1803, newspapers declared the "Death of the Alotol Confederation" after Agore's loyalists censured and swiftly expelled the Premiers from the diet. Three of the Republics seceded from the Confederation and asked the Kar Republic to join them. However, the Kar Republic stressed the importance of maintaining the idea of the Alotol Confederation as a means of defense and strength in the region. Premier Kar Gareth said that "if there was a vacuum left by the fall of the Alotol Confederation, then the entire region would succumb to anarchy and instability."

Emperor Agore sent troops into the Averan states as a means to secure the route to the Gulf of Sharkunen through Asota. Agore also sent out a secret order to kill his brother, so that there would be no one dispute his claim to the throne.

Interregnum

The interregnum or Republic Era began in December of 1828 after Emperor Agore was assassinated in Tynca. The Kar Republic marched into Alotol City and declared the Provisional Government of Setole, under the leadership of Premier Kar Gareth. The Sedailar Republic disbanded and joined hte Provisional Government. The government had three goals: end the war between Alotol realms, reform the constitution of the Alotol Confederation, and find a new monarch to lead the nation. Premier Kar released the New Year's proclamation in 1829, recognizing the independence of West Hedan. East Hedan would continue being a territory of Liosol until an agreement could be made.

The war with the Averan states, Masina, and X ended in 1831 with the partition of Masina. The area was now split between the Princely State of Masina and the new Averan Republic. Prince Methas returned to Masina through Asota that same year.

Alotol royal family

According to the Constitution of 1658, only a member of the Court of Batan could be monarch. Members of the newly established Kajeth met in 1831 to discuss who would take up the crown. Many republicans advocated for Princess Lana to be queen, since she had a history of supporting the republics. She also played a part in the personal union between the Kingdom of Liosol and the Kingdom of Asota. However, many members of the Kajeth disagreed with placing her on the throne. Some members thought that the continuation of Kar's dictatorship would promote peace and that the country should gradually replace the monarchy with a presidency.

There were also calls to reinstate Prince Methas as the heir apparent and later king of Liosol and Masina. The Kajeth narrowly voted down this idea due to Prince Methas' earlier controversy - the Kajeth wanted to prevent East Hedan from seceding - and his questionable relationship with the Averan separatists. In the end, Prince Methas' son, Jegan, was the choice candidate for monarch. However, Jegan was only six at the time of this decision and would not be able to rule outside of a regency council until his fifteenth birthday - 8 January 1840.

Constitutional reform

The Kajeth voted on a new constitution in May of 1832. A decision was made to continue the provisional government until Jegan was old enough to be monarch. Premier Kar stepped down from his position as leader of the provisional government. He was replaced by Ceur Ghothan, a previous supporter of Emperor Agore. Ceur agreed with Agore's idea of a unitary Alotol state but thought that his execution was poor and "extremely reckless." [source] In an effort to prevent the mistakes of the previous ruler, Ceur established the Blue Cabinet, the upper house of the Kajeth. The original members of the Blue Cabinet, more commonly known as the Six Eyes, were Ceur Ghothan, Kar Gareth, Moeyn Aten, Dhou Bajon, Con Segan, and Tham Jona. Their job was to assess problems with the Alotol Confederation, meet the needs of the various regions, and work with various members of the House of Status to form the "Crowned Republic of Sedail and Masina."

The Sovereign Kingdom of Liosol

The first democratic election aligned with the coronation of Prince Jegan as King Methas.
