Original version (1981)
The original version had an extra phrase at the end, which was removed in 2005 due to being seen as overly aggressive and counteractive to international cooperation.

Controversy
Critics of the compulsory flag pledge have argued that it is an attempt at indoctrinating students and restricting freedom of thought.
