The Fotolk (Fotolk: Fotolk [voðolk]) are an ethnic group of vodholk who live in various isolated communities across Fazulavaz and Kasiiralq. Their autonym is the source of the widely-used name of the vodholk species.
History
During the long confrontation between H. sapiens and H. surdus populations early in the history of Miraria, this was one of few ethnic groups that was able to survive in decent numbers. It is hypothesized that the high incidence of deafness for which the vodholk species is known was originally confined largely to this ethnic group but, after the population bottleneck and near-extinction of the species, it spread throughout the remaining population.
