The name of the country is derived from the ethnonym Koşlen, which in turn is descended from the tribe name Koþlen, referring to the Kothlen tribe. Following the conquests of the Kothlen Horde the term gradually saw increased usage by Kashisan tribes aside from the original Kothlens who migrated westwards into modern Gushlia and Komania, while eastern tribes started to refer to themselves as Balâhak, after the leader of the horde, the latter term evolving into modern Balâk.
Terminian Iovist merchants from the Letsatian Empire began to occupy and settle a number of coastal sites in central and eastern Vaniua throughout the course of the 2nd Century, particularly on the western shores of the Bay of Haraya. Among the largest of the Terminian settlements founded in the following period was Bandigus. From these settlements, Iovism began to spread inland and eastwards through newly created trade routes, melding with the traditional beliefs of the local Vaniuan populations in the process. Following the Vucheshian Red Horde's conquest of Bandigus and its surrounding territories in [year], the horde officially adopted Iovism before reorganising itself into the Movtuth Kingdom with Bandigus as its capital.
Starting from the [TBD]th Century, the ruling Ashar dynasty commenced a campaign of persecution against Vucheshian and Kothlenic Iovists.
During the early post-Great Horde period the Rashtun Khanate continued to maintain a close diplomatic relationship with the Oshar dynasty(?) and held significant political and cultural influence over the Zonam and Vonan Khanates.
In 1770(?) the Principality of Rashtun was formally annexed into X.
In accordance with the Treaty of X the territories of the former principalities of Rashtun and Vonan were ceded to the Zonam Khanate from Komania and Balakia respectively.
