The History of Vanosha as a state begins 1749 with the personal union of the kingdoms of Lesser Vanosha and Velmarsha after the conclusion of the fifth Khezi-Velmarshan war. Its history is tied to that of the other countries of the region, most notably Vosan, Khezan, Siyezan, Komania, Balakia, and Lenezan. The written history of Vanosha begins in the 700s with the introduction of Zarasaism and early conquests by Western Vaniuan peoples. As part of the TBD mountain range, it holds one of the most important land routes from Western Vaniu into northern Miraria and acted as a gateway for goods and trade in this direction.

In the early medieval period, the area was inhabited by agricultural societoes of Northern and Western Vaniuans in the South. In the interior and north of the country, the demographics shifted to being largely Masic peoples, most notably the Vichav, Richav, Marav, Najav, Azav, and Vadmiv. Other indigenous groups include the Sylazians, known in the local dialects as the Sovur or Sovurians. After the 13th century, much of Vanosha became subjected to multiple external powers:

  1. Kingdom of Khezan
  2. TBD Horde
  3. Kingdom of Lenezan

After a 1741 rebellion of Vichavian peasants with the support of the duchy of Velmarsha and the kingdom of Vosan the duchy of Vanosha was successfully conquered from the kingdom of Khezan securing much of the southern half of Vanosha from further colonization. The agreement resulted in strained relations between Vosan and Vanosha as Vanosha had effectively gained both de jure and de facto independence and a strong economic base including the vital city of Istore.
