Archive:Hwätnhäyär calendar

The Hwätnhäyär calendar (commonly abbreviated "HH calendar", Yaharan: Hwätnhäyär ønänntulÿg) is a lunar calendar used by the Vadyashon priesthood and official documentation of the governments of Yaxarhayut and Upper Yahara. It consists of a repeating cycle of an initial leap cycle, twenty-three medial cycles, and a final cycle. Combined, these add up to approximately a millennia. The calendar is further divided into lunar years of twelve lunar, synoptic months a year, which are divided into thirty days each, excepting the twelfth month of the year, which only has twenty-four days, as well as a possible "leap month".

Alignment with Gregorian Calendar

The Hwätnhäyär calendar begins on 7 July 1935BC. The New Year moves back throughout the year due to the Hwätnhäyär calendar functioning under a 354 day, not 365 day, year. Leap days exasperate this change throughout the Hwätnhäyär leap cycles and the Gregorian leap cycle of four years. The next few New Year's dates are marked below.
