Kaiyyo (IPA: /kaij:o/, Native language: Country, IPA: //), officially the Republic of Kaiyyo, is a country on southern Lahan. It borders Tuyo to the west. Kaiyyo is the second most populous country on Lahan, after Tuyo, with a population of over 34 million inhabitants. It occupies a total land area of 779,002 km2 (300,774 sq mi), and its capital and largest city is NAME.

Kaiyyo was inhabited by a large number of indigenous groups before the arrival of Neviran colonisers and subsequent Neviran rule in the Nth century. Kaiyyo remained under Neviran rule[citation needed] until YEAR, when it declared independence from Nevira and has remained independent since. Despite remaining under Neviran rule for much of its history, large areas of Kaiyyo's interior remain largely inaccessible to this day.

History

Pre-Neviran period

Archaeological and genetic evidence suggests that humans first inhabited Kaiyyo around 36,000 to 39,000 years ago. These humans were descendants of the first waves of human migration out of Ekuosia. These first inhabitants were likely nomadic hunter-gatherer groups, however little is known of the cultural or linguistic identity as they were replaced by later migrations.

Around 4,500 BCE, Lahiri-speaking pastoralists migrated across the Sea of Lahan from Puzimm.

Geography

Kaiyyo is located in southern Lahan, lying between the latitudes of 0° and 9°S. It borders the Asura Ocean to the east, with a total of 3071 km (1908 mi) of coastline. Kaiyyo shares a land border with Tuyo to the west (1326 km or 824 mi of border). In total, Kaiyyo comprises 779,002 square kilometres (300,774 sq mi).
