Kepeshte
Flag

Kepeshte (Kepran: Kepêšte [qɑ'ɸəʂt], Ozarian: Cepava), officially the Archduchy of Kepeshte, is a country located in Atsiq. Kepeshte (Kepran kepêš té, "land of the Kep") was one of the richest Imperial provinces and became independent much later than the northern nations, separating from Kharagirit in 1942. It is a conservative constitutional monarchy that keeps up many of the aristocratic traditions of old, maintaining neutrality in the conflicts between the states of Atsiq and focussing on economic growth. Kepeshte is different from most other South Atsiq countries in that humans play an unusually prominent role on the political stage, rising to high office regularly. It is also the only Atsiq monarchy with seniority succession laws, meaning that the eldest sibling of the ruling monarch succeeds to the throne.

Etymology

The name Kepeshte derives from the Kep people, one of the Osveraalic-speaking tribes that settled the Aragre region around 600 CE. The Kep expanded into what is today Kepeshte after the Courts of Aragre submitted to Imperial rule and had established themselves as the rulers of the land by 1300. Kepêš is the genitive case of Kep; te means "land". In Imperial Osveraali and the other Osveraalic languages, the country is called Cepava, using the place name suffix -va also found in Usuva.
