Major religious groups

Across Sahar, there are a number of religious groups that comprise the peoples' collective faiths. Inside these groups and between individuals, however, there may be internal division between what certain groups believe about the religion.

Baredina

Iovism

Iovism is a widespread religion that was probably founded in the 2nd Millenium BCE in Ekuosia. It inspired many later religions, such as Pashaism and Zarasaism. The theology is dualist, with its two gods Hosha and Muhe, representing among other things order and chaos.

Qurosism

The Qurosist religions are a large family of related religions originating in and practiced primarily within modern-day Lower Ekuosia and (to a lesser extent) areas previously occupied by the empires originating therein. Most religions in the group are quite disorganized. They share a general pantheon of five major and countless minor deities, and key beliefs about reality, such as that the world exists as a dream of the creator god (typically Quuros), is cyclical, and that most people who die will be reborn in the next world. Adherence to Qurosist faiths is strongly correlated to social practice of the Lower Ekuosian gender system.
