Mordar and Kovatia (Country [IPA]), officially known as the Federation of Mordar, Kovatia and Tarvata, is a country located in Western Vaniua. Mordar-Kovatia is bordered to the south by Shohuan and Xonqorot, and to the north-west by Asota.
Etymology
It is widely believed that 'Kouvate', the native name of Kovatia comes from Old Kovat 'Kouve An-Atai' meaning 'Stretch/Valley of Haven/Safety' most likely meaning that its' inhabitants were safe here from surrounding war.

Ethnic groups
Ethnic Kovats account for more than 80% of the country's inhabitants. Shohuanese people are native to the southernmost tip of the country and are not considered foreign nationals thus being eligible for various benefits such as subsidised healthcare and education fees. Mordar-Kovatia is home to a large community of immigrants from all over Sahar. Many Vaniuans avail of Mordar-Kovatia's lax immigration law to seek a better life not far from home. Most immigrants/refugees in the country come from other Vaniuan nations.

In total, there are a total of 68 settlements with the status of a city in the territory of Mordar-Kovatia. Only two cities have more than 1 million inhabitants - Basseyau and Kouve Aia.
Language
The official languages of Mordar-Kovatia are Kovat and Tarvatan. All government services are available statewide in the two official languages. However, autonomous provinces may grant official status within the province to a language other than Kovat or Tarvatan. Kovat is the largest mother tongue in Mordar-Kovatia with 84% of the population being native speakers. Shohuanese is the second largest mother tongue with a total of 4.3% of the population being native/bilingual speakers.
Education
Mordar-Kovatia has one of the highest rates of university graduates on Sahar, most notably in scientific, medical and technical subjects. Mordar-Kovatia's capital - Basseyau has a total of 4 Universities and the second largest city Kouve Aia is host to the main campus of Mordar-Kovatia's national university - University of Kovatia. Compulsory education consists of 6 years of primary school, followed by 5/6 years of compulsory secondary schooling depending on several circumstances.

Mordar-Kovatia is defined as a secular state in its' constitution. Pauegists make up the overwhelming majority of the population, however many are in fact non-practicing followers of the religion.
