The Kingdom of Hladmor was a sovereign state on the continent of Atsiq from 911 with the establishment of the Arętes Térb, where the dynasty was established by Ąrímar during a blood honor duel known as the Sámǫtesk where Ąrímar is said to have challenged Melbas, a neighboring duchess, in a battle to the death over ownership of her realm. The kingdom existed until 1118 where it was conquered by the Grand Atsiq Empire following Queen Ónsatvet was killed in battle during the battle of Suispetermorlem marking the end of the kingdom and the first dynasty of Hladmor.

There is some scholarly debate as to the extent the ruling dynasty ruled the region as the kingdom was in part a confederation unified by a singular ruling dynasty where the queen, known as a béntar, was elected from the ruling dynasty upon her death.

Name

The name Hladmor comes from a variation of hladem, a word meaning Eastern Atsiq in the Hladmor language. The name specifically refers to the region of today's southern half of Hladmor-Batler.

Migration

In the 3rd century, local climatic shifts and famine in Eastern Atsiq led to the Hladden moving further south from the region of Batler and into Hladmor. Like many other cultures on Atsiq, the Hladden culture was strictly matriarchal in nature, though the Hladden were noted for their distinctive hairknots used as a mark of one's status in society, in tandem with their militaristic culture were placed an emphasis on a concept of honor and a blood-law known as vraranró (Modern vraren). This blood-law was a common law where one would have to respond to a social crime with either payment or providing a slave or animal for slaughter. Slavery was a significant part of Hladden society as agriculture grew more prominent following the 8th and 9th centuries with kiwifruit and rice were the main cultivars, as many other choices of agricultural resources were limited due to Atsiq's isolation.

Kingdom

Prior to the kingdom, the realm was dominated by an era known as the Ųtarǫ́r, or Six Houses. These six houses refer to the six major dynasties that ruled the region. Likely what had occurred as to differentiate the Kingdom of Hladmor was the formalization of Ąrímar's dynasty as the head of the six houses in the region, with the death of Melbas, a competing duchess.
