Republic of Jaege

The Republic of Jaege (Jaegian: Jaege [IPA]) is a country located in Atsiq. It comprises the remaining territory of the Jaegian Kingdom after the peace treaties of 1870 released Soral and Siqinni into independence. After the loss of the City of Jaege and a series of crushing defeats on the battlefield, the nobility was driven into exile or killed, with a republican government taking over. The country slowly stabilised over the next two decades, managing to avoid further territorial losses. Its relationship with the Free City is tense, as reunification remains a cornerstone of the Republican political agenda, albeit one the country has no power to act upon. Its border disputes with Siqinni regularly erupt into small-scale armed conflict that has made the western provinces the most unstable and dangerous region of Atsiq.
