Cardinal: vüggin (pl.)
Ordinal: vüggin (sg.)
Adverbial: vügginþe, filekgyë vüggin

Etymology

From Atruozan vüzë ("ten") + Atruozan gin ("four") + + -böj (construct state). This, effectively "ten's four", was an older and now-antiquated method of saying "fourteen" using an obsolete method for producing numbers additively. Ultimately, it is uncertain whether it was the original form, later replaced by vlirnta in most dialects, or if it originated through analogy to vüddai ("twelve"), vühø̃ ("nineteen"), etc.

Pronunciation

  • (Eastern Fjordlands, Southern Translira, Insular Osteria) IPA(key): /vyggin/ [vygːi̞̯ɪ̝n̪]

Usage notes

Used adjectivally, where numerals behave as adjectives and are the closest to the noun of any present, the noun must be plural for it to express the cardinal meaning. Else, it represents the ordinal numeral "fourteenth". It is generally represented in writing by its numeral glyph, represented in romanisation by "E" (as the system is vigesimal).
