In 1820s-1830s, during the war between the Meritocratic Republic of Myak Kham and the Q'eb Empire, the Ya Amo slaves joined the Meritocratic Republic of Myak Kham to fight against the Q'eb Empire, so in 1832 when the Q'eb Empire was conquered by the Meritocratic Republic of Myak Kham, the Ya Amo slaves were liberated, then they joined the communities of Hux Kham people living in Baredina, and got the name "San Mngup".

Today, the San Mngup people is a part of the Ebo Nganagam Hux Kham people, it is known that Ebo Nganagam Hux Kham people whose surnames contain two words are likely to be one of the San Mngup people.
