The name of the country comes from the historical figure who united the Thumes back in 1706, Dtamagkeúúronea Tuumja.
Thumia had long been its own state, and rather small.
The state of Thumia was founded in 800 BCE, only encompassing the areas around Gela Cofa and limited in the east by the Lesser Tarnteas. It was raided and sieged time and time again by other nations, molded by them, until one nation was able to get hold onto it for a substantial amount of time starting 443 BCE, that nation being Katas, which made Gela its capital. After Katas fell, Gela had finally become independent again, but that was not to last. By 231 CE, it had been invaded again, this time by a nation east of the Lesser Tarnteas, a nation simply known as Krattioa, for its capital. At this point, Krattioa had already been a big nation, suspected to have gone as far south as the Naqui River. Krattioa had brought with its invaders loan words, pieces of cultures from the east, and in a way mainly shaped what would be Thumia's culture. But things were not to last, for in 751 CE, the state of Green, from the north, invaded the Thumish lands and made Gela its capital, as Katas had done a millennium ago. Once more, it heavily influenced Gela and the Thumish people, this time with loan words from Maslavic languages(citation needed) among other things. The state of Green however, reigned hardship and brutality upon the Thumes. Many were slain by Green's warriors for simple crimes, like speaking against their government, hoarding rice, and tax evasion. Some were not even allowed to speak their own, native, non-Old-Atangian language without being killed. Fortunately, the pain would not last, for in the 1200s, the Sunrise Horde swept through all of Miraria, spreading with it, its languages, script, and customs. It wasn't long before all of the Miralayas were taken over, and it wasn't long before all of Hedrettia was in one nation. After the Sunrise Horde collapsed, it fell into several smaller hordes, one of them being the Black Horde, also known as Garelsjema, in which there was Gela Cowa among other Hedretic cities. Finally, in 1455, a man by the name of Damageúúronea Tuumja broke Gela and the lands around it free from Garelsjema, at a time where it was failing to rule itself effectively and in its decline. For this, he had named his country after himself, what would today be known as Thumia. After he died in 1487, his son Tetińkirla Tuumja would ascend the throne, and start a long line of succession, leading all the way up to 1851. By this point, Thumia had gotten to be huge, ruling a land that's about the size of what Calutia is today, with lands extending all the way to modern-day Jaihup. But then, a coup happened and the southern half of Thumia got independence and became Dapencher(due to change?). Also at this point, another coup happened, in the western half of Thumia, the Rartakan-dominated half, with its leader wishing for autonomy and for the king to be deposed, or else they will break free. Damsadeuugena Tuumja III, the king at the time, not wanting to lose even more lands, reluctantly agreed, and then the Kingdom of Thumia became the Thumish Union. As the Thumish Union, it would wage wars against Calutia and its neighbors several times. But in the most recent war, in 1973, the country would finally become the shape that it is today, gaining some lands past the Lesser Tarnteas from Calutia, and having agreed to a period of non-agression with it for 50 years, which will end in 2023.
The Thumish government is a parliamentary republic with a president and prime minister which are both equal in power. The president is a democratically elected Thumish man, while the prime minister is a democratically elected Vrollaic man (or woman). The president is also head of the right house of parliament, the Upper House, and the prime minister is head of the left house of parliament, also called the Lower House. Both the president and prime minister have 3-year terms, which they can serve thrice at max. Both houses of parliament have terms of 2 years, which they can serve 4 times, but if given the approval of the president or prime minister, depending on the house, a representative may serve a fifth term. The current president and prime minister are Helan Ruuzenjo and Kakao Ana. the former is on his third term and the latter is on her second.
