Uploading .svg files

Outta curiosity, is there a reason uploading .svg files is disabled? There's a bunch of templates looking for various .svg files, and it'd be way easier for me to upload the files straight from Wikipedia than converting the files to .png (or whatever), updating the templates to use .png instead, and then uploading them. The .svg files don't work properly and they break things, that's why they're disabled. Also, sorry for such a late response :P Ashucky (talk) 12:46, 12 February 2016 (PST)
