Uzil (Uzili: uzil Uzil), officially the Republic of Uzil, is a country located in the Draconic Islands of Soltenna. The country is composed of 6 islands in total, 5 of which comprise the 3 Special Administrative Districts, and 1 of which is the mainland. Uzil shares maritime borders with Awarahl and Yachiro to the east, Syoranka to the southwest, and Danshapu and Astalva to the west.
Etymology
Uzili historians and linguists have generally agreed that the name Uzil comes from the name of its founder and first leader, Uzilas I. Native linguists have suggested another etymology of the name, from a reconstructed Proto-Uzilic word *u-za-le, meaning "islands."
History
Early history: foundation of the Kingdom
The first Uzili poltiical entity was known as the Kingdom of Uzil, founded in 1281 by King Uzilas I. The kingdom, centered around Mt. Darelim and near present-day Katlakil, was relatively powerful among the other small polities on the island of the present-day Republic of Uzil; however, it remained isolated and superstitious. Uzil gradually gained small territories through minor wars with its neighboring states, but the old Kingdom would never extend past around the present-day Capital Province until two centuries later.
Expansion: 15th and 16th centuries
Uzil fought its first major war in 1426 against a neighboring polity, Zeten, in present-day Sorin, Western Province. Uzil scored a decisive victory against Zeteni forces and was able to annex its territorial holdings. The historical records of other expansive actions are extremely sparse, so the method by which Uzil united the rest of the island is unclear.
1601-1641: Great Famine
Starting in 1601, under the reign of King Diyase Uzilas LXXVI, a shortage of tropical potatoes, in ancient times a very important staple crop, was encountered. Uzil's ancient diet was relatively protein-sparse, so the famine was extremely taxing to the common people, who were restricted from literacy by the royal administration. The famine was unusually long, but the tropical potato stock increased starting in 1641 due to increased foriegn aid from other island kingdoms and newer land fertility methods. The estimated death toll during the Great Famine was about 2,000,000.

Table tennis is the most popular sport in Uzil. Every Uzili year, the All Uzil National table tennis tournament takes place, in which each province competes in brackets to decide the winner.
Football is also played to a small extent. Uzil has a national football team that competes in the Sahar International Football Association (SIFA) and the West Miraria Football Association (WMFA).
