Vaniua is a region of southern Miraria stretching from the Gulf of Sharkunen seas in the west to the Naqui River in the east. The autonomous republic of Vucheshia, located within Waytseia, is also sometimes considered to be within the region, although this is disputed.

Etymology

Vaniu vs Vaniua

Although these two names are often used interchangeably to refer to the region there is a distinction to be made. While Vaniua refers to the region as a whole, Vaniu refers specifically to countries within the Vaniuan cultural sphere, i.e. those with a majority Vaniuan population. Most notably this excludes Amaia and Zwazwamia and includes Vucheshia, despite the latter lacking a direct geographic connection with the rest of Vaniu. The demonym Vaniuan may refer to people from either one of these regions depending on the context.
