The Orcish Near-Extinction Event (ONEE), also called the Vodholk Near-Extinction Event, was a long period of population reduction and extinction in the Homo orcus species which coincided directly with the expansion of humans into the orcish native ranges in Miraria. It began approximately (???)KYA and officially ended only in 1??? CE, resulting in the complete extinction of most orcish subspecies. The only extant subspecies, the vodholk (Homo orcus surdus) also greatly declined in numbers.
It is widely accepted that conflict with humans, as well as the spread of disease, played a large role in the extinction of most subspecies.
