The White Party, sometimes called the Centrists, is a political party in Liosol. Originally a party that promoted nonpartisanship and held moderate beliefs, the White Party is now predominately leftist, advocating for ... The White Party became one of Liosol's biggest left-leaning parties after the 2015 Alotol general election resulted in a ban of Kuulist organizations. Although the ban on Kuulists was lifted in 2018, the party continues to caucus with the Hetan Front and other left-wing groups.

Etymology

History

Origins

The White Party first appeared in the early 20th century during the Period of internal strife as a centrist choice for voters. At the fist party conference in Granas, founder Nai Säim told attendees that "the [White] Party will represent neutrality, fiscal responsibility, and focus on [Liosol's] future."

Great Ekuosian War

During the height of tensions in Soltenna, the White Party, which ran on a platform of keeping Liosol out of the war, secured border regions in the 1945 election. However, they failed to gain a majority in the Kajeth when they formed an unlikely coalition with left-leaning parties that also did not want to join the Great Ekuosian War. The White Party quickly fell into obscurity, and was overrun by Kuulists in the following election, losing many of the areas they had won in previous years. Party leader Sela Toran, although in opposition to Daol's administration, promised to work with it for the duration of the war. This arrangement worked until Daol banned certain parties with "seditionist elements" from participating in future elections. As a result, the party abstained from the Kajeth until that decision was overturned. Unfortunately, voters reportedly viewed this move as the party failing to fulfill its own duties, causing them to lose multiple seats and fade into obscurity in the 1955 general election.

Post war elections

Operation Badol

Revelations about Operational Badol in 2018 led to the party's resurgence and calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Goe. Pary leader name nameson said that "Liosol needs to take a break from meddling international and focus on problems at home." The election of Prime Minister Pra Densok as the country's first left-leaning candidate in decades is in part thanks to TV spots and canvassing by the White Party.
