The Yanatic Islands (Yanatanese: yanā́tā [ja.ná:.ta:]), commonly referred to as Yanata, is a country located in the Asura Ocean. It consists of ten main islands and atolls, which are all depicted on the Yanatanese flag.
Etymology
The Yanatanese name for the country, yanā́tā, is believed to have come from the Cananganamese yā́nāta meaning 'place of flowering trees'. The flowering trees in question may refer to the large clusters of mape trees found on the easternmost islands. Before Canamic invasion, the area was locally referred to as mayūno, meaning 'world'. Whilst this name fell out of use for the Yatanic Islands and Asuranesia as a whole, it is still used to refer to Sahar.
