The 2013 Cermani general election was held on 1 Firiden 1808 (6 February 2013). The election was the first to be held following the 2011 Cermani census, which expanded the total number of seats in the Federal House from 2486 to 2582. The Party for Terminia retained its majority in the house, after a campaign largely based on the imminent ascension of Cerman into the Ekuosian Union. However, for the first time the PfT did not receive more than 50% of the total votes cast, losing significant ground to opposition parties. In particular the left-wing Liberal Democratic Party, formed after the loosening of anti-Kúúlism laws to comply with Ekuosian political freedom requirements, saw a meteoric rise to become the largest opposition party. The election also saw the entrance of the Imperial Monarchist Party into parliament for the first time, as well as the growth of a large number of smaller parties, largely elected on the basis of local celebrity.
