The Aitic languages (also know as the Greater Atsiqan or West Atsiq languages) are a family of languages spoken on the continent of Atsiq. Spoken almost exclusively by dalar, the family is the largest language family on Atsiq by number of total languages, although it has fewer total speakers than the Osveraali languages. They are found all over the continent, although in greater concentration in the west.
History
Aitic is by far the eldest language family of Atsiq, with Proto-Aitic believed to have been spoken somewhere around the Lake Kepa region somewhere between 4000 and 2000 BCE. Written attestation of Aitic languages not long after writing was introduced to Atsic from Jihhan explorers in the 9th century CE. The first attested language is believed to be a Ndzouic language, attested in fragments within a much longer Old Shyorian text. The first language written in sizeable amounts is Holy Sod from the 10th century onwards.
