Ajeekhaha (Cananganamese language: Hūt Ajḗkhahattī [ˌɦuːt‿ɐˈdʑeːkʰɐɦɐttiː]), or simply known as Ajee, is the current Prime Minister of Cananganam. Elected prime minister after a constitutional crisis in 2004, he replaced then dictator Naggathrihha after a military coup ousted the dictator following an attempt at falsified elections, winning by a landslide as no other candidates or parties were assembled in time for the elections. Representing the Cananganamese Farmer's Party, he has pushed for policy changes on several issues including environmentalism, regulations on industrial workshops, and better employee safety laws. Questions have been held as to the extent of which voter manipulation played a role into Ajeekhaha's re-election in 2012, 2016. In 2018, Ajeekhaha pushed for an extension of the prime ministerial role's length from 4 years to 6 years, with the intent of extending his leadership into 2024, with the result of protests in the capital and other major cities for several weeks.

Early Life

Ajeekhaha was born in 1956 to a father who was a fisherman, and a mother who was a street vendor at Daktuva's Southwest Market. He was educated in Daktuva's public education system, before becoming a cadet in Cananganam's Youth Corps.

Military Career

Ajeekhaha entered the military through Cananganam's Youth Corps at the age of 11, in January of 1968. He was initially a cadet, serving a higher ranked officer as a secretary, though was moved to a front line role when a coup in 1971 turned into an open conflict. Ajeekhaha was nearly killed during the conflict several times, though some historians doubt the validity of this. Regardless, he saw open fighting at a young age. He maintained his position within the military slowly climbing the ranks until he himself became a general to Naggathrihha in 1992 as leader of Cananganam's 3rd division, a position located near Mujansa's border as a means of limiting his powerbase. Later, with pro-democratic protests in Daktuva occurred in 2003, Naggathrihha allowed elections to take place the next year. Ajeekhaha, seeing his chance at reforming the country in his own image, took the opportunity and ran as a main contender to Naggathrihha which caused a divide between the two generals. The elections almost led to both generals starting a civil war prior to the ballot.

Prime Minister

Ajeekhaha was elected in 2004 to the role of Prime Minister by a landslide, removing the now ousted Naggathrihha from power, through popular support both domestically and throughout the military. Naggathrihha's attempts to forcefully subvert the elections failed when his own co-plotters revealed the plot to the military police, resulting in the plotter's arrest. With no other major contenders, Ajeekhaha soon secured his position by legalizing political parties and instituting a 4 year term based on Lhavres' system in an attempt to modernize features of the political bureaucratic governance.

He initially gained strong support from all walks of life for his reforms on the economic system, privatizing many sectors and enacting employment standards. While the initial views on his changes were strong, many realized the faults of these reforms when most of those who bought privatized sector facilities happened to be personally tied to Ajeekhaha in some form, such as Cananganam Energy being sold to his second cousin on his wife's side, Vairsa Ña.
