Ledyeki (Ledyeki Nademian: Ledyeki [ɬed͡ʒegi]) is a landlocked astalvi country located along the central area of the mountain range in Nagu. It is bordered by Mablag to the north.
Etymology
Ledyeki as a name means "to the mountain(s)" in Ledyeki Nademian. It's derived from the Proto-Nademic *ɮø-tʃɤk-ic of the same meaning. The additional word in its formal name, Zekkek, "republic," is derived from Zekki, "astalvi," in the dative case, which eventually shifted to its current, less literal meaning.
History
Early history
Long before the arrival of humans on mainland Nagu, Astalvis used to populate the continent extensively. However, when humans eventually expanded within the continent, several astalvi ethnic groups were either forced to move or killed off. The most numerous group eventually arrived to an area sheltered by the mountain range and with a climate apt enough for the development of agriculture, which became what is nowadays the Ledyeki Republic.
