The Palitarx River (Saavdis: Vla Palitarx (IPA: /vlɑˈpɑlɪtɑɾks̠/); Karakat: Bált Bialtriaik (IPA: /ba:lˀ ˈbiɑltriɑɪk/)) is a large river in southern Central Boroso, situated entirely within the Fals Empire.

Etymology

The term Palitarx comes from the Old Saavdis word pals "gray", suffixed with -rx "creek/stream". The reason it received this suffix is unknown, as it is unusual for such large rivers to be named "creek". The most common theory is that the river was initially encountered northward at a point where it was still a relatively small river, which corresponds with the fact that the initial expansion of the Fals from the eastern shore of the Zaak peninsula was northward.

History

Course

The river springs from a source in the small village of Paliteer in the Gellon Mountains in northern Pels Kingdom, from where it flows in a south-western direction until it joins with the Rossaba, proceeding southward from this point through the entirety of the As Valley meanwhile passing through numerous important settlements such as Site, Astex, and Messauir, before breaking through the Ikol Hills and joining with the Palitarx's sister rivers, the Erivortla and the Sappa which add substantially to its discharge, and continuing for about ten kilometers before reaching the Gulan Sea as one of the largest rivers in the Fals Empire.
