The United Party of Workers is a left-wing political party in Sorteic. The party's platform includes collaboration with trade unions, increased taxes for the upper classes, strengthening workers' rights, social justice and some degree of green politics. The UPW was founded under a trade-unionist and big-tent socialist platform.
The UPW was founded in 2002 as a union of the Sortjecjan-Lestzi Workers Party, a left-wing trade unionist party which existed largely within the Sortjecjan and Lestzi cantons and the Tienndu Social Party, the furthest left socialist group within the Tienndu cantons and a somewhat unpopular party. The United Party of Workers retained much of the operational structure of the former SLWP, though the boost to inclusivity given by the addition of the TSP allowed the party to gain much higher popularity than it had previously.
