Athsudan (Athsudan: ózšúkatjuz Ōzšūkatjuz) is the national and official language of Athsud. It is a member of the Eastern group of the Milevic language family, itself part of the larger Shaelic family.
Geographic Distribution
Athsudan is spoken mostly within the Athsudan Peninsula, and is the most spoken language within it. It is the official language of the Federation of Athsud. Though it is not the only language spoken within the peninsula, nearly all of the population of the peninsula can speak the language to some degree. There are a variety of other East Milevic languages spoken in the peninsula, but due to the historic dominance of Athsudan and former bans on teaching of minority languages in schools, these other languages have declined in use over the decades. The language is also spoken within the island of Otsuk, though it is not as prevalent as the native Otsuki language. Athsudan was also the former official language of many Asuranesian countries under Athsudan Asuranesia. Though the official language of these colonies, Athsudan did not see much use outside of the colonial administration itself, mostly due to the lack of enforced use throughout the colonies. Athsudan was also formerly spoken in Athsudan Lahan, though it mostly fell out of use following the selling(?) of the colony to the Balak Empire in X. Most former colonial possessions do not use Athsudan as an official language, though some loanwords exist. Since the Athsudan colonial empire was both a political and economic failure, the only country to officially use Athsudan remains Athsud itself.
