Biktuva is a city within the country of Cananganam. It is one of Cananganam's largest settlements with a population of 228,192. The city was founded sometime in either the late 11th century or early 12th century with the establishing of a shrine dedicated to Emperor Urisa. Much of the settlement made its subsistence through taro and sugar farming. Today the settlement is one of Cananganam's most fastest growing cities at a growth rate of 3.1 percent, and boasts much of Cananganam's technology sector. Biktuva has also obtained another nickname which has become common in tourism slogans, as the city of 48 temples.

History

Prior to its founding, the hill it was founded upon was named Hā́nvaphā, meaning Penis Hills, referring to a large phallic-shaped pillar which dominated the skyline of the region. This namesake was lost during an earthquake in 1712, and the hill range has since been sarcastically referred to as Ūcokhḗ meaning the infertile lord.

The earliest records regarding a census of the region taken in 1192 which indicated some sixteen households and a shrine had existed. The settlement has suffered many disasters throughout its history. The first of which was the 1204 earthquake which demolished many of the aforementioned households. Nearly a century later in 1361, the settlement was reinforced with a palisade, only to be demolished in a raid in 1364. Throughout the later 15th century, until the 18th century, the settlement saw overall peace from the majority of conflicts, with only occasional raids from bandits and various noble factions. In 1712, the population which is estimated to have become something of around 2,000 was reduced by several hundred as a magnitude 7.2 earthquake rocked the region, destroying much of the architecture, the original Biktuva shrine, and its original namesake pillar.

In 1861, the now growing city had become host to one of Cananganam's first photography stores owned by Maboo Isre. Some suggestions in the later 19th century with reforming the Cananganamese state included considerations for designating Biktuva as capital of Cananganam, over its neighbor Daktuva, though this failed to gain support due to its severely lacking infrastructure at the time, which was recovering from floods several years earlier. In 1908, much of the city saw unrest and upheavel as strikes in the settlement sparked the 1908 Cananganam Riots, as a result of poor working conditions in urban areas. Much of the city has since become a center of economic technology as business giants such as the Basu Group built their headquarters in the city in 1981. In 2012, the settlement became a source of controversy as riots broke out in the city over AEIOU participation and plans to build an international airport.
