Degveneth is one of the two capital cities of Notzel, it is the capital city for the government of Notzel. The legislative capital of Notzel is Deglis.

Administratively, Degveneth belongs to the Notzel Capital Territory and does not belong to any state.

Etymology

The name of the city means "city of Veneth" in Egeriac, but the meaning of veneth is unclear. It is said that the word veneth is an archaic word for "spring" in the Egeriac language, but this cannot be certain, since no known attestions use the word veneth for the meaning "spring".

History

The history of Degveneth can be traced back to the time of Notzelia city-states, it was the capital city of the Veneth Republic during the city-states era, and later became one of the major cities for the tribal leaders of the Triple Alliance to hold meetings after the formation of the Triple Alliance, and eventually it developed into one of the capital cities when Notzel became a federal republic due to the status and power of the Veneth Republic within the alliance and the confederacy.

Geography

Degveneth is located at the Notzelia plain and straddles the Veneth river. Most area of the city are plains, with the highest point lies on the right side of the city at a height of 121m. The lowest point lies at a height of 72m, at the south bank of Veneth river. Degveneth is not far away from the sea, but the city itself does not have an access to the sea.

Climate

Degveneth has a warm-summer mediterranean climate(Csb), it has a warm and dry summer and a mild and rainly winter, the average temperature of the coldest month is above 0 °C. Snowfall is uncommon in Degveneth but can happen occasionally.

The Lidder Music Festival is one of the most important music festival of Notzel, it is held annually in Notzel.

Education

Degveneth holds some of the finest institutions of higher education in Notzel. It is home to 3 major universities and over 36 smaller schools of higher education.

The University of Egeria was established in 1822, it is now the largest and one of the most prestigeous universities of Notzel. The Degveneth University of Technology is one of the first academic school of technology in the country, and one of the largest in Notzel. Other institutions for higher education include the Degveneth Medical School, the largest medical school in Notzel and one of the most prestigious, the Degveneth College of Music and Arts, one of the most prestigeous art schools in Notzel, and the Ebith Academy of Humanities, the first private university and one of the few private colleges in Notzel.
