The dissolution of the Balak Empire was the process during which the Balak Empire was officially disbanded, which began in 1952 with the Kuulist takeover of Balakia proper and Gushlia and the subsequent foundation of the Union of Shomosvan in the aftermath of the Great Ekuosian War. The crisis saw Balakia's colonial possessions gradually relinquished, beginning with Balak Numudu on April 12 1955 and culminating in the official abolition of the Empire and subsequent independence of Sonka and Kahamogo, the last remaining constituents, on 2 October 1963.
