Edasta is a two-player strategy board game originating in the Draconic Islands. It is played on a rectangular board using two sets of colored disk-shaped pieces which can be stacked on top of one another, including pieces of the opposite color. The object of the game is to control every stack on the board (including lone pieces) by placing a piece on the top of each one.

On a player's turn, any stack that that player controls may be moved in one of the following ways:

  • A stack may be moved a single space in any direction, landing on top of the stack that is present there (if any).
  • A stack can be moved up to n spaces in a single direction, where n is the number of pieces in the stack. A stack moving this way must not jump over or land on any occupied spaces.
  • A stack can be moved multiple spaces in a single direction by placing the bottom-most piece at the current position and then moving the stack one space before repeating the process as many times as desired until the stack runs out of pieces. Pieces already in the spaces the stack passes over remain in place and are not picked up by the moving stack.

The way that stacks deposit pieces onto other spaces allows for gaining control of multiple stacks at the same time or getting to the other side of an obstacle in one move, but this comes at the cost of potentially releasing the opponent's pieces from a stack.
