Politics
Erdu is an unitary semi-presidential republic. The head of state is the president, elected every seven years, and the head of government is the prime minister. There are five fundamental laws that together form the constitution.
Parliament
The unicameral parliament, Hennfine Sotas, is the supreme legislative authority. It consists of 50 members selected with a mixed-member proportional representation. Members of the parliament are elected every three years. The president may dissolve the parliament.
There are currently seven parties represented in the parliament: the Kúúlist Party of Erdu (Erdë Kulàenþre), the United Labour Party (Ájæ annèenþir), the People's Party of Erdu (Erdë Cyþþéenþre), Erdu Rural Party (Erdë toaknèenþre), Liberal Coalition Party, Conservative Alliance and Republican Conservative Party.
Government
After a general election, the President asks one of the party leaders to form a government. Usually, but not necessarily, this is the leader of the largest party. The government is responsible to both the president and the parliament.
Currently there is a coalition government of the United Labour Party and Erdu Rural Party. The Kúúlist Party and the People's Party support the government but have no ministers.
Administrative divisions
Erdu is divided into seven administrative areas. These areas are responsible of education, healthcare, emergency services, roads and supply of electricity and water. Each area has its own council, that consist of 7-13 members depending on the population of the area.

Military
There is a universal conscription in Erdu, that requires all men aged 21-37 to take part in military training during peace and all men aged 21-55 during a mobilisation. The military service starts with a 20-week basic training. After that in peacetime, the conscripts have to attend additional training periods for at least 14 weeks before they reach the age of 37. If a mobilisation takes place, all conscripts that have passed the basic training, have to attend military or other public service.
If a man liable for military service has a physical or psychological condition, he will be exempted from military service. There is an unarmed military service option for men that object armed service and for voluntary women that pass a test. Conscientious objectors face a prison sentence.
