Makkiji is the capital city of Potjayd. It is the most populous city in Potjayd. , with a population of 2,111,041. Makkiji is situated on the Jösu river, which is also referred to as the Pingor.
Etymology
History
It is unknown how long the area has been inhabited, but ruins of a palace that date from the 5th century A.D. exist in the city. After the first Potjaydi civil war, the city was divided in two. During the period of division, South Potjayd constructed a new imperial palce in their area of the city, as the old palace was in the North Potjaydi area. This arrangemeny only lasted until the second Potjaydi civil war, in which the city was caputred in its entirety by North Potjayd. Afterwards, North Potjayd concentrated its governance in the new palace. During the Lastnamean era, the old palace was used as the military headquarters.

Makkiji is located on a bend in the Jösu river, with the historic center being located on the west bank. Makkiji Airport is located to the east of the city. The new imperial palace is located in the southern part of the city, and is the seat of government.
