Malapúsol (Vodholk Palapósol [mɑlɑ'bʉzol], Achiyitqan Malapúsol [malap'úsol]) is the largest primarily-vodholk settlement on Sahar and the capital of the majority-vodholk territory of Desktúsues, Achiyitqana. The town's permanent population swells notably in the summer months from tourists, and in the worst of the winter from nomadic pastorialists seeking temporary shelter.

Etymology

From Vodholk pála-pósol, "river city."

There are no skyscrapers in Malapúsol, with the tallest buildings capping out at eight storeys or less. (These are mostly hotels.)

Culture & Economy

Malapúsol is well-known as a cultural education destination. Its Vodholk cultural museum and the nearby historical reenactment community Lepkolle are common destinations for school field trips and other educational/cultural tourism. There is also the cultural outreach centre which works with academics and entertainers around the world to provide accurate cultural data and find participants for scientific studies.

There is a small central 'downtown' area which is geared mostly towards tourists, located near the cultural museum and outreach centre, which houses most of the city's hotels as well as a shopping and restaurant district which focus on selling traditional Vodholk wares and traditional or fusion cuisine. Most of the city's boroughs have their own central commercial district as well.
