The Radical Republican Action Party (Damserz: Dúna Ireşetba Ezguy Dákat /ˈduːnɐ ireʃedˈbɒ ezˈɡuj ˈdɐːkɑt/ is a liberal conservative party in Siyezan. The party presents itself as a centre party, and has as goals to protect the cohesion of the Siyezi nation and protect its people from injustice, be it from internal or external factors.

History

Until independence

The party was founded the 17th of March 1909 with the name of Republican Action Party, as a union of several republican movements, first contesting in the 1910 Siyezi legislative elections where it gained around 14% of the votes. It advocated for the establishment of a democratic republican system inspired in the presidential system of other West Vaniuan countries which guaranteed basic human rights and held generally buisness-friendly political ideals. Up until 1919, the party failed in establishing itself in any coalition governments.

Kingdom of Siyezan

The party supported the war against Vosan, but was critical of Arevet Veshabin's seizure of power. After the war and the reinstitution of parliamentary democracy, the party returned to regular activity and gained popularity during the 20s and 30s. It developed a separate identity from the Balkist movement: while still possessing a strong revolutionary element, it accepted more elements of the free market and developed a greater focus on democracy.

Civil war

By the time of the civil war, the party had grown to become the biggest opposition force and was a major force in the uprising that toppled the monarchy.

2nd republic

In the 1944 elections, the party had a majority in the legislature, and their candidate, Tayoşta Davín, won the presidency.
The republic proved to be unstable, and Davín's government proved to be unable to properly reconstruct the damage done by the civil war (which was complicated by the Great Ekuosian War disrupting regional economic activity). In 1948, the party was defeated in both legislative and presidential elections.
The party was ambivalent of Ashir Virnaba's coup and during his regime the party split: Virnaba's supporters reorganised and kept the old party name, and their movement became a controlled opposition party. Virnaba's opponents created the Radical Republican Action Party, which was banned and had to operate underground.
The party led protests in 1991 against Vanali Duye, and it contested in the 1992 legislative elections.

Post-Sohamist revolution

The party enjoyed participating in coalition governments after the revolution until 2010, taking advantage of the economic growth during the 2000s, and won enough seats in 2010, as well as the presidency, allowing it to govern alone up until the recent 2022 Siyezi General Elections

Ideology

The party describes itself as centrist, with factions drifting either more to the left or the right. It emphasises the need for societal stability and the importance of both social justice and democracy to ensure national cohesion.
It supports a variant of economic liberalism that focuses on ensuring both fair competition and consumer protection using regulations and subsidies. It is against the privatisation of assets of national interests, such as healthcare, infrastructure, energy and the state news network, albeit their position this topic has varied over the years and is now more lenitient on allowing other enterprises to compete with state-owned assets.
In foreign policy, the party is slightly nationalist, although they accept the need for international cooperation whenever it is needed. They are strictly opposed to isolationism.
