Cardinal: vüddai (pl.) |
Etymology
From Atruozan vüzë (“ten”) + deu (“two”) + -böj (construct state). This, effectively "ten's two", was an older and now-antiquated method of saying "twelve" using an obsolete method for producing numbers additively. Ultimately, it appears to originate from a standard contraction of the two, followed by non-standard vowel harmonisation to the first syllable.

Usage notes
Used adjectivally, where numerals behave as adjectives and are the closest to the noun of any present, the noun must be plural for it to express the cardinal meaning. Else, it represents the ordinal numeral twelfth". It is generally represented in writing by its numeral glyph, represented in romanisation by "C" (as the system is vigesimal).
